The condensate drain line is a PVC pipe that carries the moisture (humidity) stripped from your indoor air out of your home. In a climate like Houston’s, a high-performance system can pull up to 20 gallons of water from the air every day. If this line becomes obstructed, that water has nowhere to go but back into your unit, leading to system shutdowns or catastrophic water damage to your ceilings and floors.

The dark, damp environment inside a drain line is the perfect breeding ground for “zooglea”—a thick, jelly-like buildup of algae, fungi, and bacteria.
