Platted in 1923, Tall Timbers was designed by the River Oaks Corporation as the neighborhood’s ultimate residential retreat. Carved from the dense pine and hardwood forests along the southern banks of Buffalo Bayou, it was intentionally crafted without curbs or gutters to maintain a secluded, rural aesthetic.

While the rest of River Oaks followed a more traditional garden-suburb layout, Tall Timbers offered winding roads and rolling topography. Today, it remains the standard for privacy in the Inner Loop, featuring the highest concentration of multi-acre residential lots in the Greater Houston area.
