Air Conditioning systems have a typical lifespan of 12-15 year; however, many variables can effect the systems longevity such as installation quality, manufacturer, usage, maintenance, and environment.

The 20 degree rule refers to a guideline that the temperature difference between the supply side air and the return air, often expressed in a 20 degree difference across the evaporator coil. 

A system typically will cycle off and not restart no earlier than 3 minutes after shutoff to allow for equalization of the system.

    • 2 degree: 36 minutes
    • 3 degree: 54 minutes
    • 4 degree: 72 minutes
    • 5 degree: 90 minutes
    • 10 degree: 180 minutes
