In the 8-Step Customer Value Journey, the Promote phase (Step 8) is the ultimate “Holy Grail” of business growth. This is where your marketing becomes automated, and your customers become your unpaid sales force.
While the Advocate (Step 7) is someone who speaks well of you when asked, a Promoter is someone who actively goes out of their way to bring you new business. For Hexagon Air & Heat, this is how you dominate Houston neighborhoods like The Heights or River Oaks through word-of-mouth “viral” growth.
The goal of the Promote phase is to create a formal structure that rewards and encourages your most loyal clients to spread the word. You are essentially turning your “High-Margin Clients” into “Brand Ambassadors.”
Promoters need a reason and a tool to refer you. If it’s too hard, they won’t do it.
Incentivized Referrals: A “Double-Sided” reward (e.g., “Give $50, Get $50”). The friend gets a discount on their first Hexagon service, and the Promoter gets a credit on their next maintenance bill.
Ease of Sharing: Providing digital “referral cards” or unique links that your Haven Preferred members can text to their neighbors when someone asks for an AC recommendation on Nextdoor.
Promotion isn’t just about individual homeowners; it’s about “Power Partners” who see your target customers every day.
Real Estate & Property Managers: When a Realtor has a closing, they “Promote” Hexagon as the trusted inspector or preferred HVAC provider for the new homeowner.
Complementary Trades: Partnering with roofers or electricians. When they see an aging AC unit while on a roof, they recommend Hexagon, and vice versa.
This is where Hexagon becomes a household name through local leadership.
Youth Sports & Charity Sponsorships: When your logo is on the local Little League jersey, every parent in that neighborhood is being “Promoted” to by the community association.
Expert Guest Spots: Appearing on local Houston podcasts or news segments as the “HVAC Authority” during heatwaves.
| Metric | What it Tells You |
| Viral Coefficient | For every 10 customers you acquire, how many new ones do they bring in? |
| Referral Lead Quality | Are referred leads closing at a higher rate? (Usually, they close 2x faster). |
| CAC Reduction | Is your cost to acquire a customer dropping because “Free” referrals are offsetting ad spend? |
